FondaNBO - Mexican Restaurant

We were tasked to design the interiors of this exciting and authentic Mexican culinary and cultural experience at the Rosslyn Riviera Mall off Limuru Road. FONDA NBO emulates the Mexican verandah and mercado (marketplace) in its spatial and aesthetic arrangement with special attention to materials and colours. From clay pots, Talavera tiles and glazed ceramic plates that are used for day-to-day operations, all items were sourced locally and crafted by local artisans. The locally sourced sisal complements the Mexican aesthetic as it pays homage to the rich basket making culture in Mexico. All in all about 3km of sisal rope was used! As you climb onto the La Zona Cultural on the mezzanine level of the restaurant, you are met with historical and cultural artefacts and artworks. The aim was not just to provide Mexican cuisine but to give a holistic cultural experience
